The nation’s second largest retirement fund, the California State Teachers’ Retirement System, has approved a plan to divest from retailers that sell assault weapons that are banned in California. State Treasurer John Chiang, who is also running for governor, joined anti-gun violence activists to support what he calls a “progressive divestment proposal.”
